The meaning of Areté is excellence or virtue which means having high morals. Some examples of Areté are having courage, not cheating, or always choose the right. This excellence was achieved by lots of studying of the human body. I think that technology had a very big importance in his success. He would have had to have the knowledge of how the people were doing and lots of other equipment to help him with the separation of the people. Areté comes from Greek philosophy.
